Why do I have to clear or provide BIOS, admin, or similar firmware passwords?

In order to get value back by reusing the equipment and to allow IT AMG to perform data destruction effectively and efficiently.

Firmware passwords would either need to be shared with IT AMG or cleared by client to allow for the secure erasure of hard drives (minimum NIST 800-88 standard) and sale of the equipment.

We are unable to sell equipment with firmware password locks. Firmware locks can also make it more difficult for us to process the equipment and wipe the hard drives.

You may also choose to reset firmware passwords prior to disposal to a password that your firm is more comfortable sharing.

Firmware locked devices are shredded, dismantled and destroyed, and no value would likely be returned to client for such devices.
